What it is
A replacement root, not just a replacement tooth.
An implant is a titanium fixture placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Bone grows onto it over a few months, then a ceramic crown is milled and attached. Placement is planned from a 3D scan and guided by a printed template, so the position is decided at a desk rather than improvised in the chair.
What to expect
Placement, healing, then the crown.

3D scan and planning, with the implant position designed digitally and a surgical guide printed.

Placement: local anaesthetic, a guided opening, the fixture seated. Usually under an hour and less eventful than expected.

Healing for three to four months while bone integrates. A temporary tooth bridges the gap.

A scan, then the crown is milled and colour-matched in the studio.

Fitting, bite check, and a review at six months.

Is the placement painful?+
Bone has no pain receptors of the sort you'd expect. The gum is sore for a few days; most people take ordinary painkillers and go back to work the next morning.
What if there isn't enough bone?+
Then we graft first, or we don't do it. We'll tell you which after the scan, before any money changes hands.
How long do implants last?+
Decades, if the gums around them are kept clean. The crown on top may need replacing before the implant does.
